The cartoonist, tattooist, and spray-can mural artist Mark Bode was born in 1963 in Utica, New York. He currently lives in San Francisco, California. He was taught to draw by his father, the legendary cartoonist Vaughn Bode. Mark Bode’s comic work includes Miami Mice, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cobalt 60, and The Lizard of Oz. His work has been published in, among others, Heavy Metal, Epic, Penthouse; and been exhibited at the New Museum of Contemporary Art and the Psychedelic Solution Gallery in New York, Upper Playground Gallery in San Francisco, and in Europe. He has designed toys, clothing, and trainers for various international companies. During his lectures, known as “Bode’s Cartoon Concert”, he acknowledges the influence his father still has on popular culture, and he brings his own comic books to life using voice-overs, which animate comic pages projected onto a screen.
